HOW WE WORK

From a used chair
to a new everyday.

We buy Series 7 chairs from private homes, companies and estates and select those with an intact shell and frame. Cover and padding are removed, the shell is re-tightened in the frame, and the chair is upholstered again in our own workshop. The leather is cut and sewn to Fritz Hansen’s pattern, so the chair looks factory-fresh but with the patina on the frame that shows it has lived.

It is cheaper than a new chair and better for the climate: a Series 7 shell lasts 50 years, while the cover typically lasts 10 to 15. By reusing the shell we save wood, glue and transport, and you get an original chair for the price of a copy.

Each chair is described with its condition, cover and any marks. If you are in doubt, write to us and we will send more pictures or bring the chair out in the store.

What customers

What does “used and reupholstered” mean?

The shell and frame are original Fritz Hansen from previous owners. The cover and padding are new, made in our own workshop in the leather or fabric shown on the product. The chair shows signs of use on the frame and shell edge, but the seat and back are as new.

Is there a guarantee on used chairs?

Yes. There is a 24-month right to complain about defects on all chairs, and as a consumer you have a 30-day right of withdrawal when buying in the online shop. Chairs reupholstered in a cover of your own choice are exempt from the right of withdrawal.

How much do I save compared with a new one?

A new Series 7 in leather costs from about DKK 8,000. Our used, newly reupholstered chairs in leather are typically DKK 2,800 to 5,200, that is 40 to 65 per cent below the new price for a chair with a new cover.

Can I see the chairs before I buy?

Yes. The chairs are in our stores in Copenhagen K, Østerbro, Roskilde and Aalborg. Write or call, and we will find out which store the chair is in. You can also buy online and collect in the store free of charge.

Do you buy used Series 7 chairs?

Yes. We buy used Series 7 chairs and other Danish design classics, including ones with worn covers. Send pictures of the chairs and the mark under the seat, and we will make an offer.
