Danish design. Fine craftsmanship. New stories.

ABOUT US · UPHOLSTERER · A DANISH APS SINCE 2023

We give Danish classics
a long life.

Danske Design Møbler is an upholstery workshop and a furniture store in one. We buy used design furniture, restore it in our own workshop and sell it again, and we reupholster the chairs and sofas you already own.

We have four stores: two in Copenhagen, one in Roskilde and one in Aalborg. The furniture comes from estates, companies and private homes all over Denmark, and most of it was designed by Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen or Poul Kjærholm.

Solutions for business

HOW WE WORK

The original
is the benchmark.

A Series 7 chair from the 1960s has a shell that lasts for decades. It is the cover and the foam that give out. So we keep the shell and frame, replace what is worn and tighten the chair so it sits like new. We use the same types of leather and wool fabric that the manufacturers work with, and we sew the cover to follow the chair’s curves rather than pulling it tight over them.

All work is done in our own workshop. That means the person who gives you the price is also the person who has seen the chair, and we can tell you exactly what is included before you hand it in. We stand behind our work and advise on care so the piece lasts the next twenty years.

The leather in our reupholstery comes from Sørensen Leather, the Danish tannery that also supplies Fritz Hansen. It is also the material we recommend for bespoke business solutions, because it withstands everyday life in restaurants and offices. We also work with UpNordic on restored design furniture and with workshops for joinery and metal when a piece needs more than upholstery.
